Service Project Update: Benjamin Franklin Middle School Demonstration Garden

 We are excited to announce that we have installed the first demonstration garden for the "Plant Virginia Natives" campaign in the Southern Piedmont!  On Saturday, September 5th, 8 volunteers from the Blue Ridge Foothills and Lakes VMN chapter, the Southern Piedmont VMN chapter and the Franklin County Master Gardeners met to dig 75 holes in the woods and fill them with native plants.  The BFMS Demonstration Garden web site has been updated with a few photos.  This is part of the "Education: DWR Native Plant Campaign" Project.

In addition, we are still looking for photographs for the "Native Plants for Virginia's Southern Piedmont" book. Kathy has the list of what species we still need.  We are accepting photos until Sept 30th. Here are a few photos already submitted by Chapter Members that will be featured in the book:
