Project Learning Tree Facilitator Training

 Congratulations PLT Facilitators

Article by Regina Flora

Southwestern Piedmont VMN Chapter is honored to have five new Project Learning Tree (PLT) Facilitators. Regina Flora, Sonya Wolen, Kevin Bezy, Jessica Driver, and Kamara Nelson  trained at the Virginia Department of Forestry during August. The VMN state office offered this free training to eligible master naturalists.

“Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12.

Activities and resources are used to engage children in learning about the environment through the lens of trees and forests.”

After training, facilitators are asked to host one workshop per year to train other environmental educators to use PLT resources as PLT Instructors. We look forward to these workshops being available to other chapter members and educators in our area.
